Last night was the Oscar's. I am not a huge fan, they are usually predictable, political and agenda based. While I didn't sit and watch all of it, I did enjoy the parts I saw and thought they had a different feel to them this year. I enjoyed the gowns and the entertaining quality best.
Last night felt more like a show, it was funny, clean, entertaining and there was no end of beautiful people to look at. I really enjoyed Steve Martin and Alex Baldwin as the hosts. The show although endlessly long, didn't feel like it drug too much. They got right to some of the big awards after a little roast of the biggest names sitting on the front rows.
The only crude joke was of course told by Robin Williams, I thought he had been banned from Hollywood for being uncontrollable during live events. Even he was tame compared with Hollywood standards. The show seemed to be void of the usual political and liberal agenda always accompanying the Academy Awards. Sandra Bullock was the only one to make same-sex reference comments and other than that I felt a sort of humility in those receiving the awards as if they were truly honored. I haven't seen that for awhile.
The second thing I loved about the Oscars last night was the ball gowns. They were divine. I have rarely seen such a line-up of dresses so elegant, tasteful and exquisitely designed. It was fun to see the beautiful people in their beautiful clothing.
