Borat Movie Review

Borat Sagdiyev (Cohen) a television presenter who will be called just Borat for the rest of this review due to the second part of his name sets of on a journey to America with his producer Azamat (Davitian) to learn the cultural differences between his home country of Kazakhstan and the USA. Along the way however Borat sees a rerun of an old TV series (Baywatch) and decides he wants to marry Pamela Anderson.

Cohen who is more famous for his other character 'Ali G' slips into this role so good that you forget it's an actual actor playing the role rather than a very racist but funny news reporter from Kazakhstan. Borat unleashes his ignorance on many unsuspecting people including a group of women who Borat calls 'pussycats' and even laughs in front of them when its suggested that men and women are equal.

Although watching this kind of ignorance should be wrong I couldn't help but laugh all through this movie. Borat will offend many people from many different backgrounds which become equally as funny but also make it hard to watch sometimes as you fear Borat maybe lynched for his antics. Some of the movie is let down by the 'real' acting parts though and most of the parts with Pamela Anderson should have been left out and just continued with the documentary type approach.

The above was just a little inconvenience with the move though and was a very good comedy from Cohen. I award Borat with 4 stars out of 5 and look forward to future work from Cohen.
